Rolly Crump

Rolly Crump, one of Walt's beloved artists and one of the first members of WED, has created many memorable scenes and characters for the Disney franchise.  Aside from the art he created for Disney, he also drew beatnik style band posters as well as some others inspired by drug culture.

One of the most popular attractions Rolly worked on is The Haunted Mansion, with Yale Gracey.  His contribution was originally called Museum of the Weird, inspired by European "cabinets of curiosities."  It was to be at the exit of the Mansion so that guests had to walk through and it included characters a lot like the one below.  Not many of Rolly's original drawings made it into the ride but the concepts did.

His sketch of the seance room for Madame Leota.

Rolly also researched tikis for a while to create the Enchanted Tiki Room, originally meant to be a polynesian restaurant for the park.  He actually sculpted all the Tiki Gods and Goddesses in the wait area before the show.

Camille Rose Garcia

This artist's drawing style reminds me a lot of my own. Disney with a Burton twist. I wish I could master color the way this woman has. Matches the brilliant work of Mary Blair.  We had an exhibit at the Walt Disney Family Museum that displayed Garcia's Alice in Wonderland work next to the concept art from Disney's Alice movie drawn by Blair over 60 years ago!

Ghost of G Sharp 7

Antarctic Suburban Outpost

Owls come up often in her work.

As well as bats... and smoking pipes.

Hunters and Warriors Illustration from her publication of the story "Snow White"

Mad Tea Party illustration from "Alice in Wonderland"

Here are some examples of Blair's  work, her name has also come up in some critiques of my work. She pretty much embodied what the Disney style wanted to be. Walt was quoted that he had never even seen colors Mary would mix and paint with, several of her paintings were hung up on the walls of the Disney residence.

Alice at the White Rabbit's House

At the Mad Tea Party; I love the chairs in this one.

Concept art for the glass carriage in Cinderella.

Very memorable scene from the movie where Cinderella is balancing a tea cup on her head.

She also designed "its a small world" with one of my other favorite WED cast members, Rolly Crump.

Andy Goldsworthy- Land Art

I would love to work with natural materials more... Gonna start making things on hikes and just leaving them there to surprise whoever comes across it next.

I love the concepts behind Earth Art, breaking away from the confinement of the gallery space and bringing art into nature, after "nature is the source of all artistic expression."

Photos of Walt I want to Paint or Draw

I'm not entirely sure on how I feel about portrait tattoos yet.. but if I were to ever get one it would have to be this classic one of Walt.

Montezuma, Mexico

Historic Disneyland Photos

I would love to do a painting that included the old Disneyland sign... Maybe I'll reference from one of these.

Walt checking out some of the animatronics for Pirates of the Carribean.

One of the first female Imagineers for WED (before they were called Imagineers).

Next time I go to Disneyland... I'm standing right there...for a while.
